To all Discord bot developers who are under 16 years of age.
We are notifying you of changes to the bot verification process.
About Bot Verification for Users Under 16
Previously, users under the age of 16 could verify their bots by submitting identification documents. However, due to legal reasons, users under 16 will no longer be able to verify their bots independently.
How Can Users Under 16 Verify a Bot?
To verify a bot, users under the age of 16 must obtain the cooperation of a user who is 16 years of age or older using one of the following methods:
- Cooperation of a Parent or Legal Guardian: Have a parent or legal guardian create a Discord account and become the owner of the bot’s development team. Then, have the parent or legal guardian submit identification documents and proceed with the verification process.
- Cooperation of a Co-Developer Over 16: Have a co-developer who is 16 years of age or older create a Discord account and join the bot’s development team. Then, have the co-developer submit identification documents and proceed with the verification process.
Role of the Collaborator
The collaborator will submit the required identification documents to complete the bot verification process. Once the verification is complete, the bot’s ownership can be returned to the original developer. However, the collaborator must remain a member of the development team.
Frequently Asked Questions

A: No. The identification documents submitted must belong to the owner of the account.

A: A valid form of identification is required for verification. If you cannot find anyone to help, you will need to wait until you turn 16.
Q: I’ve already verified my bot, and I was under 16 at the time. Will there be any impact?
A: No. There will be no impact on bots that have already been verified.
Q: My friend who is under 16 was able to get verified. Why can’t I?
A: Due to legal reasons, the policy has changed. To avoid impacting already verified developers, this policy will only apply to bots being verified going forward.
