Three Steps to Get the Badge
To get the badge, you need to meet the following requirements:
- Own an Active Application: The application you created in the Discord Developer Portal must be owned by you.
- Execute Application Command: The application you own must have executed an application command at least once in the past 30 days. Slash commands and context menu commands apply to this.
- Participate in the Active Developer Program: You must participate in the Active Developer Program in the developer portal and enter the required information.
Detailed Explanation of the Badge Acquisition Procedure!
- Access the Developer Portal: First, log in to the Discord Developer Portal with your Discord account.
- Participate in the Active Developer Program: Click the Active Developer Program banner at the top of the portal, and select “Join Program.”
- Select an Active Application: From the drop-down list, select an active application that has executed commands in the past 30 days.
- Specify an Official Server: Select a server to use as the official server, such as your application’s support server, community server, or development server.
- If the server is not displayed, check that it is set up as a community server and that you have administrator privileges.
- Select a Developer News Channel: Within the specified server, select a channel to receive updates about the Discord API and developer news.
If You are Active in a Developer Team
If you belong to a developer team, you can obtain a badge if the application owned by the team is active. However, if the application is owned by an individual account, you need to transfer it to the team.
How to Transfer an Application to a Team
- The owner of the application opens the “Team” tab in the developer portal and creates a new developer team.
- Invite the members who want to get the badge to the created team.
- Change the owner from the individual account to the created team from “Settings” > “Team” of the application.
To Developers Who Don’t Have the Badge Yet
The Active Developer Badge is a great opportunity to visualize your efforts and contributions as a Discord developer. If you have not yet obtained the badge, aim to obtain it on this occasion!
Troubleshooting
- Badge is not displayed: If the badge is not displayed even after you have obtained it, try restarting the Discord client or refreshing the browser. For mobile devices, please wait until mobile support has been launched.
- Application is not recognized as active: Check that at least 24 hours have passed since the application command was executed. Also, the user who executed the command needs to have “Use data to improve Discord” enabled in “Privacy & Safety” in their user settings.
- Cannot be selected as official server: Check that the server is set up as a community server and that you have administrator privileges.
